Which Mitsu's have a timing chain ?

If this exists already - I haven't found it.

I'm wondering which Mitsubishi vehicles have a timing chain.

I'm not a gearhead, so I don't know the engine codes, etc.

Make / model / (years?) would be great.

I ask because I never want to pay $850 to replace a timing belt ever again, which I had to, for the first time ever, in my previous vehicle, which was a Volvo. Or, is the job significantly cheaper for a Mitsubishi vehicle?

If easier - we can do a compilation here; in which case I'll start.

'13 Outlander SE 2.4L DOHC = timing chain (even though the owner's manual claims it has a timing belt - why??)

Anyone ? If there's a simple link somewhere, let me know.

In the near future, the family will need another vehicle - preferably a Mitsubishi product - hence my asking.

AFAIK...The Mitsu's with V6 Engines ( 3.0) have the Timing Belt...the 2.0 and 2.4 4 Cyl.
has the Chain...Ive had a few Lancers...and I think they changed to the timing chain when the MIVEC Engine went into the 08 Lancer...I know my 09 and my 13 had the Chain...but my 03 Ralliart and 06 SE had the belt.

From what I've heard the 2.0 and 2.4 have been very reliable engines...the techs I've spoken to say that not much really breaks on Mitsu vehicles that are properly maintained...this is my 5th Mitsubishi..and have never been stranded by mechanical failure yet..(touch wood)...I drive 40,000 km per year and usually keep my daily driver vehicles for only 4 or 5 years..Been very happy so far..Best of Luck !!

I've noticed a lot of 4 cyl engines have chains and many 6+ are using belts.. No idea why.
