Speech button and pairing temperamental
 

I have a Mitsubishi Outlander vrx 2009

When I click on the speech button nothing happens and the dashboard does not give me the ability to bring the step up page and thus I can’t pair the Mobile I phone. This doesn’t even work when I press the P gear and leave on ACC or the ON button.
What’s weird is that the option used to come up on the display at one stage when I could get to the pair page but then my phone wouldn’t come on the select phone option either.

Can someone advise how to fix the above and why is it temperamental ???
