SPEEDOMETER NOT WORKING PLEASE HELP

HI I'M DANIEL & I OWN A 2002 GALANT.I HAD A FRIEND TAKE MY STOCK DECK OUT & REPLACE IT WITH A ALPINE DECK.WHEN HE WAS DONE EVERYTHING WOKED FINE & STILL DOES EXCEPT FOR THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK AT ALL.PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I CAN FIX IT MY SELF OR ANY KNOWLEDGE I CAN RETAIN ABOUT THIS THNKS

sounds like he may have messed up the wiring.

What connection does the stereo have to the speedometer? I just replaced the stock stereo in my 2001 galant with an aftermarket, and my speedometer doesn't work either.
