tearing up tires on the mirage

my wife has a 2001 mitsubishi mirage and has been going through front tires like every 5-6 months because of extreme wear on the inside and outside of both front tires, when reaching the speed of around 60mph the car shakes alot , we took it to go get it aligned a couple of times but they say that theres nothing wrong with the front end allignment. also the car was in a front end crash before but it was fixed just wondering if thats playing a factor if someone could help on this it would be greatly appreciated

tearing up tires on the mirage

With it going through tires so fast that it sounds like the frame might have been bent. Did you take it to get aligned at the same place that did they repair work? My father ran his Astro van off the road and did some front end damage. We took it to the dealer to have the repairs done. Their insurance covered everything including a frame straighting. After we got it back we noticed a slight pull to the right upon braking and above average wear on the tires. We took it to another shop for a second opinion and they said that the frame was bent and they could not align it. We took it back to the dealer the next day, not telling them about the other shop, and low and be hold they said that there was nothing wrong with the van. They still refused to admit responsibility after we confronted them with the other shops prognosis. So what I am trying to say in this lengthy story is that you should always get a second opinion when things don't add up. If the shop was any good then they should have been able to tell you what was tearing the tires up. One last thing is to check that you have proper tire inflation, if they are to low then they can cause wear patterns like that but not in six months. I hope this helps.
