timing
2000 gallant. Broke timing belt. I replaced it & car will not ttart. Took it off turned engine 180, still no start. It sounds as if it had no spark. Checked plugs/coils OK.. Any thoughts?

uhhh....
Tdc #1. Line up your cams. Belt on. Check compression. If you broke it while running, id expect a fair bit of damage. If it has a dizzy, and no spark, id expect you sheared the drive pinion key. |

All pulleys on mark, yes Sounds like no compression, lady said it always sounded that way. Broke while d, yes. I'll check drive pinion key-compression. Thanx |

If theres spark then its unlikely to be dizzy issue.

Compression check low. Cyl 2 & 3 below 100. Took head off. Head gasket looks OK. No damage to valves or pistons. What else could cause low compression?
|
leakdown test.
'looks ok' doesnt always mean ok. What did the bores on 2&3 look like? Shat a ring? |
Cyl. Smooth. If it is the rings would it show on the bore?
|
That is an interference motor .... U may have internal damage dude,..Good luck.
