Default "check engine" light

I've got a '00 Mirage, and I just put a new catalytic conv. on. The first couple of days after my car drove great, like it was new again. Then for some reason my car has gotten cold natured, really hard to get it to quit spitting and sputtering after i crank it, but seems to get better after it warms up. This all started about two days after the new install, when the check engine light started coming on. Does anyone know what could cause this, and what can I do?

I also got a check light in my 1999 eclipse rs. My check light has to do with the air conditioner. I thought it was the circuit breaker or something and that wasn't it. But the ac works perfectly, it just puts so much load on my belt like mad. I don't know why so much load, because its hard for my car to shift with it on too.

the light is nothing to worry about. if you added a high flow cat then that is prob why or a CAI then reset the battery unplugg it for a few mins and it will be out see if it comes back on after that. A CAI can cause that due to tricking the MAS the MAS is used to a surtain amount of air and a free flowing intake will change that
