Flowmaster exhaust

I did some research on this forum about the flowmaster exhaust and did not find much info on it. I'm trying to build my own exhaust system. I was thinking about getting the universal flowmaster muffler. Here are the specs on it UNIVERSAL 10 Series Race Muffler, Single Chamber Delta Flow Muffler Provides Minimal Sound Reduction With Maximum Flow, 3" Center Inlet / Oulet 4" Thick By 6.75" Wide By 9.75" Long Body, 12" Overal Length.
I would have the piping bent by a local shop. 3" of course. What do you guys think of this setup? Does anybody have any sound clip examples?

I can only say I tried the flowmaster on my car and chose the magnaflow, there was a louder sound from the flowmaster, but it was more of an annoying loud than a performance loud. Magnaflow gave me a nicer, deeper tone. The pricing is very close on the two. Go to the muffler shop and ask them to pre fit both of the mufflers and you'll get a pretty good feel for the sound. They just attached mine and "sealed" the spots that were to be welded with a tied rag. It's kinda a redneck way to test it out, but it worked well enough for me to make an informed decision.

yo dude
go MAGNAFLOW
you wont regret it
because it uses a straight through core
while the flowmaster has baffles and chambers
i know so because my dad has a muffler shop and has had it
for 18 years

RE: Flowmaster exhaust

I have had both before and i would have to say that the Flowmaster was very good. I had it on a 1997 GMC Sonoma 6 cylinder and it sounded like an 8 cylinder. It was awesome.
The magnaflow I had before was on my 2002 nissan sentra se-r spec v the sound was good with the stock header but as soon as I changed it out it sound like a huge coffee can full of very angry africanize bees. So I am hesitant.
I will try both out at the muffler shop before I decide which one to buy. Going to be running a 3" pipe all the way through to the cat. Upgrade to the midpipe later down the line with a high flow cat. The whole system should not run me more then $200.00 to $300.00 dollars.

Any competent muffler shop doing the install will be able to help you out with that, I don't have the answer for you. Let them do a little work for you aside from the welding;)
