MAS Attachment

Hello, I own a 1996 Mitsubishi Elipse Spyder GS with a 2.4L 4-Cylinder engine. I got a cold air intake system for my birthday, and I have one problem with installation. I cant find a way to attach my Mass Airflow Sensor (MAS) to the new intake. Right now it is attached to my stock intake with the factory parts, but if i want to install the new cold air intake i need someway to attach the MAS to the intake. Ideas?

Any help is appreciated,
Thanks

you are going to need a MAS adapter. The other problem you may run into is what car this CAI is for. As far as i know there is no company that makes an intake for the 2.4L engine. Only the turbo models and the 2.0L non turbo. So sorry to say that may not even fit. But if you want to try then here is what you need

My Eclipse has the 4G64 2.4 non-turbo engine. The Cold air intake i have says it will fit any 1995-99 non-turbo engine. but that MAF adapter, on the website that you linked, says that is made for the 2nd gen Turbo eclipse, so i dont know if it would fit on mine because of that.

you have to realize that almost all 95-99 non-turbo eclipses are equiped with the 4.0L 420a engine. Not the 4g64. The 4g64 ONLY came in the non turbo spyder convertible. Therefore i guarentee you that the CAI you have was designed for the 420a engine and will not work with your car.

The 420a motor also did not run on a MAF setup which is why you dont have the correct equipement. My suggestion to you is to return the setup that you got. Then if you would like to get the little extra gain from an intake your best bet is to buy the MAF adapter (yes i know it says turbo model but your engine and the 4g63 share the same adapter) and then just buy a cone air filter to replace the stock air box. replacing the air box will be almost as much a gain as a CAI, and when i say almost i mean within only a 2-5HP difference.

yes, i have seen that my car is the only one with the 4G64. i have a cone air filter (from the CAI kit) so if i just installed that it would give me some boost in power?

On paper you would be gaining power. Will you be able to tell? Nope.

I'm guessing you purchased this on eBay?
