Default Non Functional interior light

When I open the door of my car no interior lights go on. I have checked the fuse and it is good, any ideas? Why I press the button for the "lamp" light it illuminates but only if I press the button. Can anyone help?

Check the door ajar indicator to make sure it's not stuck in or something. Other than that you kind of have to get a wiring diagram and chase the ghost!

i had the same problem.. it is most likely your door switch thats bad.. if you take it out.. try to clean the ground first.. if that doesnt help, then take the switch itself apart and clean eveything inside of that.. one of mine was corroded so badly inside that the switch had to be replaced but im willing to bet it is your door switch that is the problem.

I should do that, mine works every once in a while and the passanger side one works 99 percent of the time. Might just not be getting a good connection like you said. I'm just too lazy and it's too cold out right now to have done anything about it.

I had the same problem.
When I pulled my door switches apart and cleaned the switches, the light began working fine.

Just pull the screw that holds it onto the door frame.
Remove the black rubber bellows.
Push in the two clips that hold the switch pieces together. (It will come apart in a few pieces.)
Clean the metal contacts with a good electrical connection cleaner (RadioShack) or a clean pencil eraser.

Reassemble and test.

Mine worked like a champ after this.

Hey guys, I have the same problem with my eclipse, but it is on both sides. I have taken apart the clips and you can see the copper deep in the plastic piece, or clip. how do you get to the copper, is their certain spray you can get to remove the dirt from them?
