i got some vinyl (spelling?) spray paint from Walmart, and it worked great, nice thin even coats, about 4 or 5, then a coupla spray on clear coats to protect it.......

The best way to paint vinyl is to go to an auto paint shop and ask them for a vinyl coat to help paint stick. This is basically a clear coat layer that you spray over the dash, let dry, and then paint. You can still do a clear coat over it afterwards if you want too. This stuff will make the paint last a lifetime longer than just going straight over the vinyl. Pimpin ain't easy, but it sure looks good. Have fun.

They also make good stuff specifically for dying vinly and it's spray on, works on plastic too.

Yeah all those are good methods, just make sure if you're going to do it take your time and do it right, because cheap and easy can ruin the whole look. I've seen it done. You're like that's a sic car and then you get up close and it's like EWW! GOOD LUCK WITH IT ALL.
