Aftermarket rearview camera cause transmission issue
 

So the past weekend I put in an aftermarket radio with rearview camera into the wifes 2015 Outlander Sport. Radio works fine but then I hooked up the camera to the reverse light and started getting the transmission light intermittently. Comes and goes and sometimes locks it out. Now im an aircraft mechanic so I can read the wiring diagram pretty good but im also always on the go so I havent had time to really look into it. Have it disconnected now but wondered if anyone has seen this or heard of it with any solutions or alternatives. Temporarily hooked up my radio from my car with a camera and same thing.

What exactly do you mean with "transmission light intermittently"?
If reverse lights are LEDs then yeah, might be funny artifacts because camera may produce some noise. Also, some cameras consume a significant amount of current like 0.3A, in this case even with parallel connection of the camera and reverse lights there might be some voltage drop which LEDs normally do not like. Put a relay instead (also connected in parallel to the lights) which will turn on camera's power feeding (a separate +12V cable, for example from trail hitch).

The transmission light comes on when the car is started sometimes while still in park. There have been times when I shift to drive and park amd it would lock out. I was thinking it could be power but it shouldnt be drawing power if the remote wire is connected to the reverse light. Again it happens sometimes immediately once the car starts up.
