bent vavle

when i first got my eclipse i knew it had a bent vavle in the head from it not bein timed right but the vavle didnt snap its just bent does that mean the head is ****ed now or would it be ok to take it to get hot tanked and a stage3 port&polish job done the reason im asking this is because slowboyracing heads are expected 4-6 weeks to be done and im trying to get my engine done in two weeks

depends on the dammage. My friend who has a gst spyder did that and his head was fine, on the other hand I have seen valves pushed and pressed into the head. The only way to know is by taking the hed off and looking at the valve port to see the actual dammage done.

Most likely the valve guide has damage.

true, your going to need a new guide as well, but a new valve also.

Might as well do an all out head rebuild. Call jnz tuning, they do great work.

yeah my mind is goin back and forth about if i should redo the head or just buy the stage three from slow boy racing but they take like six weeks to get one reddy but getting the head rebuilt takes a bit of time to im just trying to find the cheapest and fastest way

cheapest way...bring it to a good machine shop, and have them check it out. They will tell you exactly what needs to be done and ussualy depending on the shop it can be done in a couple weeks. My guess is that more than one valve is bent, even only one may look it, there has to be more. So i would say for the quick fix, bring it to them and it will probably cost around $500

Another quick fix would be getting a used head off ebay for like $200.00.

i dont know that i would trust that very much. Its definetly better to save yourself in the long run by paying the extra 300 now and save you from any further problems down the road
