Default to buy or not? Please help me

Hi, my names Kris. I found a 3000 gt for sale. Its a 95 with 85k miles on it. The dealer is asking for 6,500 but i think if i pay him in cash hed go to 6 grand or even less. I ddint get to test drive it yet but im goin to tomorrow. I tired today but the one guy wasnt there and the guy that was there had no plates to put on it for me to ride it. Its real clean and the body looks like its in real descent shape. I didnt see any rust. Is it a good buy for that price and are they reliable after 85,000 miles on it? How fast are they too? Able to run with an 04 evo VIII or not? Im guessing no but who knows. I dont think its a v-r4 but i could be mistasken. I asked the dealer because there was no badges on it but maybe the kid who owned it de-badged it. I own a celica now and i still owe a little money on it. Id have it payed off by now if i didnt put 4 grand into it. I might sell it if i want this 3000 gt. Itd be nice not to have a car payment. But if i dont get the 3000 gt im going to be getting an evo VIII in a few months. So what do you think? Is it a good buy and are these cars reliable if they are well maintained?

well i garantee its not a vr-4 and i think thats a little overpriced for a 95 sl, it will be plenty reliable as long as its well taken care of and if its a sl dont even dream of hangin with a evo, but if its a vr-4 yes it wil hang with a evo VIII becouse its a 13 second car. oh and sl is around 130 top speed and 15's in the 1/4 while the vr-4 is around 160 top speed. and if your gonna get a evo in a few months just buy the evo.

Yes if its a 5 spd thats a good price. Even if its a DOHC base. Not a terrible price either way. No it wont hang with an Evo. No its not a VR4. The TT AWD car has a book value somewhere around $12k-$13k with those miles in that year. So you can rest assured its not a TT. The top speed thing from David here is off. But the 1/4 mile estimations are correct. And Dave, just so you know, I had my NA at 150+ on the freeway racing a Tiburon GT (a race I lost mind you). The TT will do better than 160 also given enough room. I had my 92 at 145 in 4th gear racing (and beating) an SS Camaro back in the day.
