95 Base or SL? How to tell
 

How can I tell if my car is a base model or SL model. I've been told a few different things, ie: sunroof, trim, etc... I have notice in pics that the SL has a different intake manifold, but I'm not sure if that's from 97 +. Here is a pic of my engine and was hopin if someone would tell me if it's a base or SL, and maybe give me some points on how to tell the diff.

i think its an SL because SL have a DOHC and base model only had the SOHC

Does your car have the following?

1. Leather seats
2. ECS (Electronic controlled suspension)
3. SL Emblem
4. Power everything
5. DOHC 222hp

If you don’t have any of the above you have a 95 base.

Note: 91-96 Base models are DOHC
97-99 Base models are SOHC
91-99 SL models are DOHC

Note: The turbos will still fit because your car is a DOHC.

It doesn't have ECS or the emblem on the rear facia, so must be a base model. Other than that it's fully powered leather w/infinity system.

I go to www.carfax.com type in your vin # and that will tell you what the car is.

and it will show you this

your engine looks exactly like mine (99 SL).... intake looks a lil bit different...but i still have the air box and not a CAI so that might be why it looks wierd to me....

plus the pictures ive seen of the base SOHC engine are really really bare looking...unlike that one

You can't tell by the engine whether it's a base or SL for the 95 model, they all had DOHC. They downgraded the base in 97 to SOHC. If you wanted DOHC you had to get the SL(97-99 only). But I can tell you that you have an SL since you have a leather interior. The other upgrades the SL has over the base is the ECS button which is the adjustable suspension, and ABS.
