I really have to dissagree... i have heard of a couple... but i have heard of say... 5 DSMs spinning bearings... and about 2 VR4s... and one was because the owner was a d-bag and never changed the oil once in the cars life.

as sebba said about the timing belt, also make sure that the complete 120000 service was done. i know the timing belt is a big part of it, but i'm pretty sure that theres much more. and good luck with the whole thing.

most 3kgt owners say change the belt every 60k miles........

Dude 1Gs have a different bottom end than the 2Gs there is a reason why they switch from a 2 bolt main to a 4 bolt. The 1Gs spin bearings ALOT more than you think. DSMs are spin bearings im sure because alot of people dont take oil changing the way they should, The 1G 3000GT is different it you need to keep on top of it. a long day at the drag way and your asking for a spun bearing if you dont

Emonz is right, but not without reason. Without doubt, the 4-bolt blocks are stronger than the the 2-bolt ones. What I think happens, is people by an older car that is broken in, tolerances are loose, oil passages aren't perfect and they start upgrading the power. The increase in power is just too much for the old engines to cope with. Also, when extensive upgrades are made, usually some kind of after market engine control unit is used. Poor tuning and logging will kill an engine as quick as anything. People have built reliable and powerful 2-bolts and have not had any issues.

Preventive maintenance is the key...but that is pretty much universal.

yes, true that... but, what did he say the car had on it? something like 140000 miles on it. which is 60000 times two plus arund 20000 miles. it's not to the point of 180000 mile tune up yet, so i just figured the last one that would have needed to be done would have been the 120000 tune up.

sorry if i was unclear before
