Default can i connect two o2 sensors to 1?

i bought a new down pipe on my 96 base model 3000gt. The new downpipe has only one o2 sensor hole. While my stock has two o2 sensors on it, one right after the first manifold, the next before the first flex plate. My question is can i connect the two o2 sensors and theirwires together to make 1,and putone o2 sensor in the new down pipe? Will this make a difference?

The wires on both sensors are identical: blue, white, black, black.

old downpipe had a few holes in it!

Default RE: can i connect two o2 sensors to 1?

i got looking under the car and i found another o2 sensor; so there is 1 right after the front manifold, 1 before the first flex plate, and the 3rd is mounted on the back manifold.
So i got to thinking, since there are two o2 sensors almost in the same place; ( one after the manifold and the one on the manifold in the back) what if i wired both of those together, and thenplaced theone o2 at the flex plate in the only hole on the new down pipe?

I don't know, there are three o2 sensors, and two of them are on the down pipe, and the down pipe only has one 02 sensor hole! IF there is something i can do, please help!

What you need to do is have an o2 bung welded in.
The two o2 sensors just after the two exhaust manifolds are used to keep your AFR stoich. The front monitors o2 gases from the front manifold, while the rear monitors the rear manifold, and then the one by the flex pipe is used to monitor the cat. You most likely don't have the one by the flex pipe....that's "normal" in some cases unless you buy one that states "OEM replacement" which means that it will have everything the stock one did/does.
Like MB stated, NO, you cannot make one sensor out of two as all three have different functions. Get an o2 bung welded in where the stock one should be. That can be done at any exhaust shop.
