My engine light is on and won't go off. Dad thinks it has a major problem (the engine), but I am not sure. I read in the owners manual that basically high-quality coolant was required, and the day my engine light went on and wouldn't go off, I had put in some generic stuff. With water, of course, but generic. ANy chance that could be the simple problem, or do I need to bring my car in?

 

I don't know how many times people are going to asks this. Go to your local parts dealer(AutoZone,PEPBOYS exc.) they will check it for FREE. They can sometimes tell you what the code means, if they don't came back here with the code it threw. Most of the times if the car is not acting up, its not a major problem. Also their is a search option in this forum.
