First Car: Thinking about a 300gt...

Hello everyone,

This is my first post here. I am currently a teenager looking for my first car. I love old antiques and classics, but have realized that it is not ideal or practical for my first car. I am looking at the 3000gt because they are unique, stylish, and look like fun to drive. Unfortunately I am on a budget and I am not sure whether this car would be reliable or whether I would have enough money for repairs if things go wrong. I would like to try and get one for under $2000 in good condition. I have found multiple options however I really love the 1999 3000gt. The new front bumper and lights look gorgeous and I would love to purchase one. I found a 99 green 3000gt base model that is listed for $2,300 and has 173,000 miles. It seems to be in very good condition but I am worried about the mileage. I don't plan on racing or beating this car like another teenager may. I just want it to be a daily driver that I can enjoy driving on some nice rural roads in my area.

Some questions...

Is this a reliable car? I have heard that they are alright but need a lot of work with engines and typically transmissions.

Would this car be a good choice for what I am looking for or should I just go with a cheap mid size sedan as my first car?

Is 173,000 miles a lot for this car? I love the 99 version but I feel like in order to get them within my budget they have a lot of miles...to be expected.

This question is for any younger people that have this car. I know that it varies on insurance provider but I was wondering if any new drivers have purchased this car and how much they spent on insurance each year?

Thanks for the help guys,

Braden
