Got a 3000GT SL could use advice

I just bought a automatic 94 3000gt sl (DOHC) for $2,500. I may move to Texas so I was looking for a 2 seater car for cheap that was pretty good and when my best friend saw this he recommended this. Its in good condition and I only got it by luck from this older guy (although now I know what I do I wish he had the VR4). I am not familiar with 3000gts so I have been lookn them up for a few weeks now. So now I want to do a little customizing. My overall plan for the car is to keep it balanced between a daily driver and a lil speedster. The car only has a few issues:
1. Brakes+Rotors(maybe) need to be changed (did that)
2. Oil Pressure Switch
3. Shocks
4. Belt Tensioner
5. Trans Reseal
6. After 2 weeks of having the car the window wont go all the way up...

I was wondering if it would be worth it stability wise to swap out the tran for a manual, get a turbo (nothing TOO big though), since I read that the VR4 has alot of repair issues. Also any ideas would be nice. I never knew that this car was so cool until I did some light reading on it. Also I know the VR4 is a TT, but how much of a difference is there between the two?

leave it alone. don't go modifying it, because you'll blow it up, and end up with an expensive hunk of scrap.

Leave it alone, and drive it until you can afford to buy a VR-4, and have the know-how to fix it when it's broken, along with another car to drive when your VR-4 is broken.

I figured as much... How much do VR4s go for these days anyways? As far as the window I think its the motor.

if the window is coming up crooked, it's probably the track, not so much the motor.

You can get a decent VR-4 in the 5k-8k price range, depending on year, mileage, etc, etc.

To answer the other part of your question, there are a few key differences between a VR-4 and the SL. The SL is 2WD while the VR-4 is AWD with All-wheel steering below something like 35mph. The VR-4's came with Active Aero, which includes a front air dam which extends down to reduce lift and a spoiler which flips up to increase downforce. The engine is mostly the same, only the base model has a different engine (SOHC I think), minus the turbos and side-mount intercoolers.

Also, I agree with Girly, if your window actually moves on it's own and simply doesn't go up all the way, it is probably the track.
Hope it helped!
