Painting the calipers
I am going to paint my calipers red. What is the best paint to use? I know Duplicolor had a ceramic paint, any good? I want it a bright red.

RE: Painting the calipers
You can always go to your local pep boys, or autozone...they have high heat paint...its not bad qaulity either, just make sure u wire brush your calipers to get all the rust off

RE: Painting the calipers
I just happened to take on the same project with my VR4 just a couple of weeks ago. I used the Duplicolor Caliper Kit in red. It is a very bright red and looks great. Here are a few pictures of the process from start to finish.

RE: Painting the calipers
Just make sure you use brake parts cleaner and clean them REALLY good, because the paint will start chiping off in about 3 or 4 months if you don't.

RE: Painting the calipers
Also make sure you put on a couple good coats of clear coat, it will shine alot better and you won't have to worry about the paint chipping as soon, only the clear wearing off...

Thanks for the advice. Those pics are exactly what I want.

RE: Painting the calipers
An email from Duplicolor confirmed that they do NOT recommend a clear coat over their ceramic caliper paint kit. I too was concerned about this. I have seen countless after pictures from other members of that board that have done this project along time ago. The ceramic paint seems to hold up well on it's own. Emphasis should be applied to cleaning and preperation (especially the cleaning). The single can of Brake Cleaner included with the kit is NOT ENOUGH. I'd suggest u purchase at least another 3 cans using at least 1 per caliper.
