I have a 98 3000GT Maual Transmision.
I just got the car about 2 months ago and it was working great, a lot of power on it, and It just to burn a lot of rubber on First and Second gear.
But now I have this problem, when I'm on a complete stop and I hit the gas and let go of the clutch, my car would accelerate a lot but it barely moves, I mean all the power is goin and I see my RPM going as high as 6000 and I have to shift to second and it still doesnt move.
Now if I hit the gas normal the car would go no problem, It only happens when I put a lot of power on the Gas and I could hear the engine going hard, but the car doesn't move fast at all, sometimes after it moves really slow after a few sec's it'll go fast again, but It only happen once or twice.
Does any one have a clue on what's wrong with my car.
Again I just bough it about 2 months ago and it has about 70K miles on it.
Thanks for all your help.
I just notice right now that even if I'm on second or Third if I hit the gas hard the RPM would go high and you could hear the engine accelarating but the car doesn't move fast like it used to, it keeps going, so I have to let go of the gas and push it slow to have the car accelerate.

I had it for 2 months, but I only work 5 miles from home.
I don't use it on the weekend that much.
About how much would a Clutch cost me for this car?
Thanks for all your info.

Clutch itself would be around 350. Now, the real cost comes with installing it. If you have someone else do it... it could be more like 800.

Damn...you burnt up the clutch in 600 miles...that must be a new record.
A new clutch from Rockville Mitsu is about 80 bucks. Clutch and pressure plate is about $200

When I first got it, when I shift to 3rd gear it would kick the RPM really high like 5500 with out touching the gas, and then it would dropped to 3000 after a sec or 2.
So I need both Clutch and Pressure plate?

Maybe, maybe not...but if your are going to be opening it up, it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace both and the throwout bearing while you are in there. It might save you some labor costs in the future.
