Hey sebba, I'm sure the last question you want to be asked is a VR4 vs GSX question, LOL.But what wouldYOU(Sebba) buy: a stock 1994-19963000GT VR4 or a 1997-1999 GSX Eclipse withonly 2 or 3thousand in upgrades? . . . Would the VR4 be reliable if I didn't beat it up too bad?

As long as the VR4 is 1995+ then good. If the GSX dosent have a built motor then i wouldnt bother.

If the VR4 is 1995+ then awesome take that... if its not then get the GSX

As long as it remains civil, alls good.

I only ask, because the 94's and 95's are the same. Actually, I'd think 94 would be more desireable because it is still OBDI. I think in 95 and 96 they started using the hybrid OBDI & II. I could be a little off on that though. I don't have nearly as much working knowledge of the 2nd gens as I do the 1st gens.

Didnt the 1st gens have that bottom end issue? (PS- I know very little to nothing about that car... with the exception of it using the same motor as my 3G... but with DOHC)

The general consensus on 3si, is that the 1st gen bearing issue is a myth (the 1st gens have 2-bolt mains, 2nd gens have 4-bolt mains). However, the 1st gens did have cast cranks (and maybe rods), the 2nd gens have forged pieces. Any new crank purchased for a TT will be forged.
