The general consensus on 3si, is that the 1st gen bearing issue is a myth (the 1st gens have 2-bolt mains, 2nd gens have 4-bolt mains). However, the 1st gens did have cast cranks (and maybe rods), the 2nd gens have forged pieces. Any new crank purchased for a TT will be forged.

Oh yeah, there is no myth that they spin bearings...that sadly, does happen. I was more referring to the myth that the 2-bolt mains were inferior to 4-bolt mains. From what I have read...they seem to spin bearings equally.
Dusty: That's a 1st gen Stealth in their garage...with a 2nd gen engine.

Im correct in the belief that none of your 6g72 internals will fit the 3G Eccy 6g72?

What internals would you want...I'm sure you can get after market forged parts for an Eclipse.

RE: Sorry sebba
In the long run, they will be about the same. They can both be total disasters, or they can bothe be incredible cars. It REALLY depends a LOT on the owner, (you and the person/people that owned it previous). Though, statisticly, VR4s are considerably more to repair. Keep in mind that NEW the VR4 was somewhere along the lines of a purchase price like the Toyota Supra. But now go for prices closer to thier actual value. Youll notice theres a STEEP decline in the prices for those cars, yet not as steep when it comes to the 2G Eccys. There is little to NO point in asking for peoples opinion, as it will vary from person to person, (not to mention upset the general balance of things.) You would need to test drive each vehicle and see where your preference lies. 3KGT= Heavier and leaning towards a luxury sport coupe, whereas DSM is a lighter and less expensive option. Noone here will be able to tell you how YOUR specific car will be, as it will depend on you.
