Default Transmission Problems

I have a 94 5 spd base model. 3rd gear is totally shot, every time I back off the clutch it pops outs. Does anyone have any advise on where to look for a rebuilt transmission, or if it's cheaper to get it rebuilt?

ya know, and this could just be me, but I built a 92 civic, with an LS VTEC swap, and after running it around for about a week on short drives, it started doing the same thing, turned out, the trans was low on fluid... I'd check that first before I went to re-building anything. Rule out everything else before you spend an ***-load of money.

if you really really want your car fixed, youll pay what they ask, or do it yourself.
I suggest the later. you can get a good rebuilt trans pretty cheap (or alot less than that)
get a factory service manual, and have fun, its really not that hard, if you can follow step by step directions.

3sx has them for most models...

edit: There are instructions in the manual for replacing the tranny, but nothing on the internals of the tranny. At the time Getrag deemed these trannies unrebuildable so no diagrams were put in the manuals. That, however, has been proven false. You can download a .pdf file that is for all intents and purposes, the missing chapter in the "official manual."
