2001 Mitsubishi Diamante making weird sound when shifting from reverse and park
 

My 2001 Mitsubishi Diamante LS Automatic just started making these weird noises when I shift gears when I put it in park it seems to clank and jerk a little it also seems to travel alittle further before the parking bake catches. When I shift to reverse it does the same thing but I also hear a sound that sounds like air escaping from somewhere. Its sunday so none of the shops are open but I took ot to advanced auto parts and the guy said he wasnt sure but thought it could be the mount cracked or off place (something like that) Oys not just specifcally park and reversethey just seem to be the worst sounding gears

Sounds like your handbrake needs adjusting at least. I am experiencing the same at the moment but am also experiencing a scraping/high-pitch groaning sound when turning corners which I hope to resolve by replacing the rear discs, pads and overhauling the park brake mechanism inside the rear disc.
