05 Endeavor A/C evaporator coil keeps freezing up.
Hello all,
My 05 Endeavor with 100,000 miles just started having an issue with the A/C. After about 1.5-2 hrs of continuous A/C use the volume of air coming out of the vents decreases by around 90% and I can hear noises coming from the dash that sound like ice falling off the evaporator coil. The air that makes it out of the vents is still cold and if I switched to vent for about 5 minutes I can turn the A/C back on and it will work for about 10 minutes then decrease in air volume again. When I switch to vent the air volume increases to normal within a minute. I did notice that the compressor did not appear to be cycling during this time. When I googled this description I found a forum that an individual had this exact problem and they just replaced the pressure switch and the problem was solved. I was wondering if they may be the solution to my problem and if so can I replace it myself without losing the freon charge? Any help is greatly appreciated. |
Just a quick follow up. The compressor is cycling while the A/C is on.
