air conditioner problem?

I cut the air conditioner on after starting my car a couple of days ago, and I heard a short squeaking noise. It only lasted for only a short second. I ignored it. Today, when I was driving home, I cut the AC on and it did the same thing, very short squeak, but I could feel the vehicle hesitate/lag/jump, or whatever you may call it. It wasn't like I was cutting it full blast. Just level 1 on the AC knob. It sounded like the fan belt, but I'm unfamiliar with what the real cause is or may be. Anyone got any information? Thanks in advance.

Does your a/c blow cold air? What you hear is just the a/c clutch engaging, nothing to worry abt.

The AC blows cold air..... seems to work fine. I haven't noticed that noise though until recently, and I've been using the AC for at least a month now.

You may need a new belt.

Turn the a/c on and open the hood; watch the a/c clutch come on listen for the noise. When the a/c is on it puts anextra load on the engine and gives it that lag you feel while driving.

I have an 04 endy, and mine sometimes does the same thing. It almost feels as if it's not lubricated well so it's tough for it to spin at the compressor initially but once it gets going its fine. Sometimes when I initially start the A/C I hear a loud thump but then all is well.
