Crankshaft bolt removal
I am trying to change the timing belt on my dad's 2004 endevour>it has 56000 miles on the odometer. The bolt that holds the crank pulley wont come off.I tried using the impact gun with no luck. Then I sparyed trizol which is like wd40 on the bolt and let it sit for a 10min.Tried it again with the impact gun with no success.I have a small air compressor. Is there a way to get this bolt off or do I have to let a professional tech to do the job? I am trying to help my dad who is on a fixed income.thank you in advance for reading my post.

leave socket with a breaker bar on it and crank the engine.

Do you know if the bolt is a lefthand or righthand tread?...

tyres have tread, bolts have threads.
i know it's a self tightening bolt, so as it doesn't wind itself off under normal driving conditions. i know also that stopping it from moving, like by leaving a socket and bar on it, while cranking the engine will free the pulley, usually, by undoing the bolt. but hey, carry on. |
the breaker bar and socket technique works really good providing you have a good strong battery...did this once on my 3000 gt..... it will work
