Crankshaft bolt removal
 

I am trying to change the timing belt on my dad's 2004 endevour>it has 56000 miles on the odometer.The bolt that holds the crank pulley wont come off.I tried using the impact gun with no luck.Then I sparyed trizol which is like wd40 on the bolt and let it sit for a 10min.Tried it again with the impact gun with no success.I have a small air compressor.Is there a way to get this bolt off or do I have to let a professional tech to do the job? I am trying to help my dad who is on a fixed income.thank you in advance for reading my post.

leave socket with a breaker bar on it and crank the engine.

Do you know if the bolt is a lefthand or righthand tread?...

tyres have tread, bolts have threads.

i know it's a self tightening bolt, so as it doesn't wind itself off under normal driving conditions.
i know also that stopping it from moving, like by leaving a socket and bar on it, while cranking the engine will free the pulley, usually, by undoing the bolt.
but hey, carry on.

the breaker bar and socket technique works really good providing you have a good strong battery...did this once on my 3000 gt..... it will work
