I was reading some of the forums over at evom and that site blows, well the site doesnt it actually got a lot of information on it, its the people that are on it that blow, they are soo ignorant and just plain ***\\\\S. Some people can ask the most easiest questions to answer yet the people on there got to be ****** and give the guy crap. Im sorry but I have searched their site a few times for some info and after an hour of looking through hundreds of threads I finally find what im looking for. Im sorry but sometimes questions and answers need to be freshened up in our heads. yeah its easy to tell someone to search but even when you find the threads there are questions that you still have but unfortunately if you ask them the ignorant asses will give you crap. Thats why I love this site, everyone here seems to want to help, I have never had a problem with asking questions even If there were posts in the past. Emonz and the rest of the guys here will help to the max even if a question has been asked before. thats just my opinoin though. A+++++++++ to this site and all the members.
I try my best to contribute to every EVO thread on this site. If I dont know an answer I most likly will look it up and chances are most of the info I get or know about the EVOs all comes from EVOm. I dont post over there for techy questions cause there is a lot of people who flame. I have only a few posts and the answers I got were completely WRONG TOO. So when I had a few problems with my car they were no help what so ever. I get most of my help by randomly searching around.

Here is an exapmle of my EVOm posts.

I had a problem with my car going all the way lean under boost and it was pulling timing my AFRs were like 12.1-14.8s at WOT even after I when as rich as possible on the SAFC it was still only 12.1 at full boost and got more lean higher the RPMs went. So I ask do you guys thinkit isa bad fuel pump since I still have the stock pump. and the reponce I got was "NO that is def a boost leak" i said no it isnot I am running lean. he replies with " the car will run lean with a boost leak." the he started to flame me cause at the time I had yet to install my recirc kit for my SSQ so I was venting... So I quoted him telling him he is no help that it is completely false that I had a boost leak. I was like lets think here ok. so the air is calulated the computer knows and adds fuel for that calculated air so when you loose some air along the way hmmm there is extra fuel there THEREFOR a boost leak makes it rich NOT lean. turns out the plug that I had in the intake where the BOV was supposed to recirc to fell out so my intake was taking in air after the MAS and it was being un metered and therefor cause extra air in and the computer didnt know so I was running lean. I got no help on that problem that one responce I got the person was cmpletly clueless about how motors work I guess so IDK sometimes you gotta fix something yourself

ok, thanks for the help Mike. wel i guess i can start by asking what the first thing i should do is... i was thinking turbo back exhaust, intake and boost controller. i have heard from a couple ppl thata cold air intake on an EVO will actually somewhat hurt the performance of the car though, is this true? or at least cause a bad idle?
mike i was refering to RC about the mods to look into getting.

I forgot that is a part of this thread.

And yea I kind of wish I went the stages with my mods versus peicing it all together. but on a budget peicing it together is cheaper but not as easy

I started off getting a TBE, then boost controller, and then a flash...so far everything has worked great. I'm just saving up some money to get some lower IC pipes.

I went a similar way with mine.

I made my intake then MBC , then I got my wideband, TBE, SAFCII, then I got the Injen upper and lower IC pipes and a HKS SSQ, then lowered the car. I need a flash so I can get rid of my fuel cut. But I think im gonna wait for a FMIC and 780s and a 255lph first and maybe some cams

do you have a goal for the car? Definitely DO NOT put ANY kind of intake on the car until it has been tuned. Your gas milage will suffer your idle will suck, and it's just bad. We typically start with an MBC and an ECUFlash. With an ECU tune, and some more boost, the Mivec on the 9's will put you in the low 300's @ the wheels. We're also BIG fans of alcohol injection. This will allow you to run alot more boost safely.
As Emonz said replace the BOV, the stock one will leak. A turbo back exhaust is also worthwhile but dont waste your time with the O2 housing, there're little gains to be had.

I know all this intake take ill tell you. the first mod I did was an intake and I had no change. gas milage was terrible as it was before idle was fine recirc was fine noo stumble. The car has that poblem now 2 years later but I am in the middle of a tune up and TPS is bad as well. so next spring all should be well again ALTHOUGH I hgher recommend a tune of some sort. I am going to get a flash this winter I think cause the SAFCII is just not cutting it. I need to get teh fuel cut out of there and get a better tune in

you should definitely ditch the AFC asap, it can cause serious problems. The stock ecu has literally hundreds of maps, and it's capable of switching through them very rapidly according to load on the engine and other variables. The problem with the AFC is that your adjusting the inputs going to the ecu regardless of what map it is using. Therefore there's no way to know what you're actually adjusting or doing to the engine.

I know.. I dont really like the tune I got anyway I know I am losing ou on avail power and maybe safty. Altough I id tune it with a wideband and my afr through WOT is 11.1-11.5 but timing isnt touched either and I know my AFR could be beter and more constant
