Default Evo/STi Boost question

(We’re not trying to decide which car’s better, hopefully everyone who drives either cars are over that)

Couple friends and I got into this discussion comparing the boost levels/displacement of the Evo and STi., First off everyone agreed that the Evo makes a max of 19psi and the STi 14.5psi. Let me know if this info is wrong so I could get back to the rest of the guys!

Anyway the main question was why does 14.5 psi on a 2.5 liter 4 cyl make 300HP and 19 psi makes 276on a 2.0L? To most of the guys, more boost crammed in a engine with smaller displacement wouldresult inmore power! Jus need a clear explanation to give these guys. Thanx

More boost into bigger displacement means more power. Its not only that the STi has a leaner tune from the factory the EVOs HP is grossly underrated as well. The 05-06 EVOs peak 20.5PSI and the older hit 19 but drop to 16 after about 1000RPMs. Ever 1PSI usually makes about 10HP. The bigger motor and leaner tune of the STi are what gives it the 300.

The EVO are under rated in HP if you look at it the 05 EVOs are rated 276 and the 03-04s are rated the same BUT the 03-04s are about .6 slower in the 1\4 mile. The 2006 EVO is rated only 10HP at 286 and they run about .4 faster in the 1\4 mile that the 2005 models.
