I absolutely LOVE the Evo, in my opinion it is the most awesome car on the planet, but I'm a bit of a noob as to the specifications on it...

Recently, I got into an argument with my friend about the Audi B5 S4 VS the Evo 9, but we quit after no progress after a few weeks. But anyway, I was wondering about a couple things:

The Evo's SAYC and all other AWD technology outperforms the Quattro right? Is it true that the Evo is pretty much the best handling car on the planet?

Also, it's true that in a straight line a stock US Evo 9 would beat a stock US B5 S4, but with some minor mods, such as a new turbo (new biturbo for S4) and ECU and possibly some other small things for each, which one would win? My friend claimed that just a few mods could bring the S4 up to 400 hp and 500 torque. What could a few things do for the Evo?

Ofcourse you can beat the EVO with those mods. Thats like saying you can win a race after taking a stimulant.

However, those cars are two totally different classes. The EVO is more of a rugged bare car. Its for the car enthusiasts, not for luxury or comfort. So that keeps the weight down in the EVO a lot.

The Audi on the other hand (great car i love it) is much heavier, bigger motor etc... but it has luxury combined with speed.

It really depends what your looking for.

The EVO is actually much easier to mod than the S4.The ECU doesnt allow much. For example, the highest powered EVO is over 1000hp at the wheels. I havnt seen an S4 come close to that. Not to mention you will save yourself some cash from buying the EVO and spend that on the mods.

If you value the luxury, get the Audi, if you are a speed/driving freak then get the EVO.

Yes, the EVO will out preform the S4 round a track. All the electronics really make a difference.

All depends what you value. But speed for speed? EVO : )

In my opinion the S4 is also a great car, with a ingenious combination of speed and luxury.

Coming back to this though, the most powerful Evo has over 1000 hp? Is that the Norris Designs Evo or is there another one? And how would you get an Evo up to that amazing power?

There are 2 main others. AMSPerformance EVO and the Buschur Racing EVO. Both are into the 8s.

The EVO reaches sub 3 second 0-60 all the time.

 

Yeah Sebba is right, it's definately AutoMotoSports (AMS) and Buschur Racing who has the fastest Evo's out there. I saw AMS live a few times cause I'm lived in Illinois for about 4 yrs. Simon Norris of Norris Designhas a really fast Evo too but not quite as fast as the AMS or Buschur Evo. Simon Norris and his team also converted their Evo into a two door coupe. I personally love the 4 doors better
