Lancer Evo 9 or 10: Help me out!
Hey guys! I would really appreciate some help and input from you fellow Mitsubishi guys @.@.
anyway... heres the deal. My birthday is coming up in may, my dad said I can get a new car. I told him i wanted a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. He agreed.
Now heres the problem, I looked up Evo Lancer and found out that X concept is due to come either somewhere around 2007 mid-late or early 2008... I cannot choose between waiting for the X concept to come and then buying it or simply just buy the current evo model IX...IS it really worth waiting for the X concept? or should I simply just buy the current model? I'm confused ><.
Another thing, I really want to buy a evo! I just really, really need to get my hands on one -__-. Should I wait? or should i go buy the evo9. Is the difference between 9 and 10 that extravagant?
Please help me out!

Hey bud, I deleted your other post since it's the same post.
IMHO, I would go with the EVO 9...why? Because it's a latest and last installment of the 4G63 motor. There's nothing new that needs to be found with the drivetrain and motor in the EVO 9. The EVO X will have an aluminum block while the current model has a stronger iron block. The EVO X also uses new technology...the means "new bugs". Your call of course, just stating the obvious.
If you do decide to get the current model, I would suggest getting the MR version of the EVO 9 over the other trims. The MR is the higher end model.
Oh yeah, yes the differences are obvious...I don't mean just the styling, I mean the motor. Oh yeah, the prices are a bit less nowadays too....not that it matters, come on, you're dad is buying you an EVO of your choice...you've gotta be rolling in dough.

It comes with more soft suspension so the handling is a little sacrificed from the IX base model, the 5 spd tranny is faster in a drag the 6 spd gets better accell from a roll race. The IX SE was not availible with the MR package but still non MR. Just research the models. IMO the MRedition is not worth the extra 3-7k dollars

In your personal opinion, does the IX or X look better (the look)? IX looks pretty sick, but the X looks like a combo ecplise/lancer, which makes it look a bit ugly...
Anyway, I checked the models:
RS
IX
MR
SE
I'm leaning towards the SE. The MR is a bit expensive and I do not think it is worth it :/. I'm not going to be driving it solely for the Speed -___-. Thus I am thinking of getting the IX too...

So basicaly, your suggesting me to get: Evo IX SE. Right? Thats the exact one i'm leaning towards too. I actualy got a few questions for you or anyone else who would know -___-.
I've been searching all over web, and I cannot find when exactly WHEN the SE model came out! In your previous post you spoke about SE, so i'm wondering if you know when SE actualy came out? (just curious @.@)
Anyway I also was wondering, SE Evo, just plain SE IX evo, the price online is roughly 33k. If I went to a dealer, would it also be 33k? What would be a fair price for SE IX evo, so I know what price to look for. Thanks in advance!!

The IX came in as new 2006 the SE was about hlafway threw 2006 hence why people sometime reffer to it as the Evo 9.5 it is alos pretty hard to find since The Evo IX was taken out of production shortly after to make why for th ramp up to the Evo X. $33k is not bad at all. I would aim to pay even less than that because you need to be the one making out in the end not them. so make sure your ontop

Yeah these guys are right, the IX Special Edition sounds pretty good for the money. The MR is nice but not worth the extra cash. I was reading about a road test comparison and competition conducted by Motor Trend for the new 06 Evo IX MR vs. the WRX STI and the STI was given first place mainly cause of the MR being priced so high.
And it definitely wouldn’t be a good idea to wait on the X simply cause of all the reason previously stated. But one simple reason is that this body style (7, 8, & 9) is no longer goanna be offered for the Evo. The Evo made a huge impact and changed the definition of performance when it arrived to the US in 03. Can’t even talk about the legendary 4g63 motor, but all I know is that I want a piece of that history to remain with me for the next couple of years.

Thankyou guys! I Anyway, myself, am starting to lean onto IX. But the concept X is going to be new, wouldn't that mean its going to be better? It is a concept car! However, I hear that concept cars always get delayed, and the lancer Concept X evo will probably be coming out in mid early 2008... I can't wait that long... So i'm probably going to be getting the IX.
