01 Galant Questions

Hi everyone. I would first like to say i am a new member here. I do have a few questions.

Last october we bought my stepdaughter a '01 Galant ES 4cyl from a local auction house. It was a 1 owner traded at a dealer for a new VW. It had 129000 miles, loaded incl moonroof and wing for 1400.00. It needed tires but that was not an issue. We put new tires on it, changed all the fluids, gave it a tune up (so I know what has been done) etc...

All in all it is a nice little car for her first car. here are my questions. I got to drive it really good today(1/2 hr dive home from where she was)

1- at 70mph its taching out at 3000 rpm in O/D.
2- while crusing on the highway and giving it light gas at certain times the engine stars to chug, almost like a misfire but its not or its starving for fuel.
3- before i did the tune up it had a horrible idle in gear(teeth chattering). since i did the tune up it is drastically better but still has a little vibration.

is the high rpm and vibration normal for these cars?
what could be the chugging problem?

thanks in advance.

I was under the impression that galants did not have O/D. But yes, going 70mph 3krpm is normal for my 06.

vibration while driving the car? you might want to see if it needs an alignment. my car didnt pull at all, steering wheel was straight car went straight, but i had vibrations around 60mph. (was fixed after an alignment)

as for your teeth chattering idle, that is something you might want to get checked out by a mechanic. it could be as easy as a dirty throttle body or it could be tranny issues.

hope this helps
