04 Galant timing issues
 

So the timing in my 04 went on the fritz. Rear bank was making terible noises when the engine was runnng. A mechanic buddy of mine says it sounds like the valves are hittin the pistons. So we started the repair process, we got the #1 piston at tdc and started puling it apart. As we went to take the tensioner off. The rear bank cam shaft made a weird noise and now we cant get the timing marks to line up at all. My buddy seems to think the valves are bent. Any thoughts on this? Has this ever happened do anyone else? Any response would be grearful. Thanks.
