2001 Galant low Idle problems
I was having some problems with erratic high idle and sticking throttle so I used some throttle body cleaner to clean out the throttle body. Long story short I ended up flooding it but it finally did crank and everything seems to be running well EXCEPT when I first crank it if its cold the rps hang around 250 - 300 and it keeps trying to shut off until it warms up. Did I damage the throttle position censor? I got the check in light checked and it says either dirty or bad throttle body or is it talking about the censor?

What DTC did you get from your car?

Thanks for the Input, I suspected that was the problem.

I might be having the same problem. I'll be on the stop light, press on the breaks, and the idle goes down that it almost feels like it is going to stall. I will be replacing the plugs, wires, and boots soon and hopefully that fixes it. If not, then I will be looking at a new throttle positioning sensor.

Did you get a code telling you it was this Sensor?

Dealer couldn't find an error code. They said that sometimes it just won't tell you. I'm basically doing a trial and error and I've been reading a lot on what might cause it.

a sensor is defective.
