2001 Galant (v6 3.0) engine died in parking lot, also ANTI-LOCK and TCL light on??

Was driving at low speed in parking lot, and the car shut off. I tried turning it on again, but it didn't come on. My boyfriend suggested on the phone to try it while stepping on the gas to see if the idle is too low. It started but when i took my foot off the gas, it shut off again. My uncle came and adjusted the idle speed with a screw driver, but said it was just a temporary fix to probably a bigger problem. He also noted that it smelled like gas when we got the car running again. We managed to drive it home.

found out about two recalls dealing with my cars fuel system. http://www.mitsubishisucks.com/cars/reca…

also found something about the crankshaft position sensor saying it could cause the engine to die out

I also had a p0442 code one time, but the scanner was acting funny so i thought nothing of it.
this was for a OBD-II Trouble Code: P0442 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak)

anyway, my car has been acting funny ever since the Anti lock light and TCL light came on about a week ago. they've been on constantly since then. sometimes the car would jerk at stops.

Help...? I just want to get opinions before I spend money on a mechanic....

Uncles and boyfriends will and usually do make things a lot worst when they try to work on cars without the slightest idea of what is going on.Usually people ending up paying more money to professionals to repair additional plus original damage done by so called help.
All this aside, sounds like you may have bad IAC valve

Update:

I forgot to post this a long time ago, but my boyfriend ended up fixing the issue. He cleaned out the throttle body (it was gunky) and now the engine works perfectly fine.

CLEAN OUT YOUR THROTTLE BODIES!
