2001 Gallant Service Schedule

Greetings all,

I have a 2001 Gallant ES that has just hit 60,000 miles.

Other than the typical brakes type stuff, is there a listing for when I should get things serviced?

The manual doesn't seem to have any type of maintenance schedule in it and figuring it's about time to get some stuff looked at.

one place keeps telling me to change Trans fluid but is that too early yet? What other things should be about ready to be changed?

Thanks.

RE: 2001 Gallant Service Schedule

Tranny fluid should be changed every 30000 miles and ONLY with Mitsubishi fluid. If you've never changed the fluid then you might want to avoid a flush. I'd ask the dealer for their advice on flush vs change at this point.I recently purchase a 2002 Galant 2.4 with 100000 miles and I didn't know it's service history. The dealer did a fluid exchange on mine which is essentially a flush without the cleaning chemical. It gets all the old fluid out.The timing belt is due to be changed at 60000 miles. I would do that as well as the tensioner, water pump and all the ancillary belts. New plug wires and plugs too (NGK Iridium are stock)and are easy to install. The fuel filter is in the tank and attached to the pump. It's not servicable from what I understand but maybe the strainer can be cleaned. It wouldn't hurt to clean the throttle body too.
