2002 Galant ES Strut Tower Rusting Out
 

The first question is this:

What happens if the top of the strut tower rusts out completely and the strut mount lets go? Is lose of control a certainty?

Second question:

Is there an after-market cap for the strut tower of a 2002 Galant ES? If so, how do they attach to the vehicle? Bolt on? Weld?

Third question:

If there is no after-market cap, what's a decent price for a repair? A local welding shop said that there is no cap for that model. They said that they can repair it for $100 - $250 per side depending on the extent of the rust. That was phone quote, I haven't taken the vehicle in yet. $200 total sounds reasonable to me, $500 would make me wonder if the vehicle is worth repairing. (The strut towers are not the only problem with this vehicle)
