93 galant engine troubles

I have a 93 galant with the 4g64, it starts and runs like a champ for a bit but when it gets hot it starts stalling and is undriveable. A little ghetto shop told me it was a 600 dollar crank sensor. Anybody have a cheaper conclusion? thanks in advance

Sorry thats bull**** because if it was the sensor then it would not start in the first place. Im willing to bet that this is a leak of some kind. Most probly a vac leak. Are you leaking any fluids? If none of those are the culprit then my money is on a failing fuel pump. Im willing to bet its a vac leak. Do yourself a favor and dont go back to the ghetto place.

thanks I was wondering how the crank sensor could change from heating up. There are no fluids leaking anywhere the car is in great shape. I will check for vacuum leaks now. What is the best way to check for leaks besides listening? maybe i'll just go buy a roll of vacuum line and replace everything couldn't hurt I guess. Any other ideas if not the vacuum lines?

Fuel pump failure... that would be my least idea. It makes sence to be a leak of some kind because with heat there is expansion and thats when the hole will really start to open up.

I was about to click the OK button and had a little thought. It is possible that one of your plugs or wires could be not functioning 100% when heated. This is also a likely problem. If you want you can replace them.

Try the plugs and wires first!

I wanted to rephrase the question in case it matters I had said it stalls but I guess that could be taken differently. It just totally dies when it gets hot. does this change anything?

thanks

That wouldnt be the problem though. Although cleaning it will always help you.
