94 Galant ES Tranny
 

Accidentally grounded out my tranny while I was checking for trouble codes. I don't remember which pin it was. The tranny only has drive and reverse now, no other gears, and no OD. I blew a light bulb and a 10A fuse too at the same time(radio, dome, and clock), but i already found and replaced it. I don't think the ECM is damaged because all systems are a go otherwise. Is it a problem with my tranny computer or a sensor? Can the tranny computer be reset or will it have to be replaced?

So anyway, I gathered from reading this and other forums that the transmission computer (TCM) was fried or whatever and I changed it out last night with one that I bought on EBAY. It's model 757009.It took a few minutes to register and whatever and then it started working like a charm. Got all my gears now. Hope this helps someone who may have this problem in the future. By the way the TCM is close to the firewall, right next to the gas pedal behind a plastic trim piece. You have to remove it from the passenger side though. Its held down by three bolts.

I did the same thind checking for codes. Now my trans works fine with the OD off,but when it's on it shifts in and out of gear like it's slipping. Undriveable in OD. Is this similar to what you experienced? Thanks

Not exactly. Like I said, mine only had 2nd gear, reverse, and park, and absolutely no OD. They call it limp mode, or fail-safe mode. My OD works fine now that the TCM's been replaced. May just be a vehicle speed sensor or something minor (hopefully) that's causing the OD fluctuation.
