Need to siphon water out of gas tank
I am 95% sure why my 2002 Mitsubishi Galant is having problems starting after sitting idle for a long time.
I think the neighbor's kid is putting WATER into the tank with a garden hose. My understanding is that water is denser than gasoline and that the water will be UNDER the gasoline. I have tried siphoning the water/gasoline out of the tank with tubing as thin as aquarium tubing, but it never gets down far enough to reach any gasoline/water. I try blowing into the tube and there is no indication of fluid bubbling. I suck on the tube and get no gas but a mouthful of gasoline fumes. Seems to me that a 9 year old car should not be that hard to siphon.
How can I get the fluid (gasoline or water) out of the tank? Is there some block in the tank? How can I get past it?
