Replacing a 2.0 engine with a 2.5

Hey guys.

Simple question, i own a Galant 97 with a 2.0 engine, is it possible to fit a 2.5 v6 into? Does mounting fits and how big would this operation be?

Kind regards Lasse

a 97 galant came with a 2.4 L engine. mitsubishi didnt make a 2.5L engine. in 97 the only v6 engine mitsubishi made was a 3.0L that came in the diamante, 3000, montero, and the montero sport. a 97 galant engine compartment wouldnt accomodate that engine. not big enough. also would have to swap complete wiring harness and ecm. MAJOR job, and i'm sure some mods would have to be done to make it work.

Thx. But it seems to me that there are a lot of other engines for the 97' model. Like listed here on Wiki.
I have a few friends who had the 2.5 engine in theyre Galant's from 97' and 98.
Otherwise, your right, seems like quite a big deal.

Lasse.

if it was a true mitsubishi engine, it wasnt an engine that was in anything made or sent to the USA. 2.4L was the standard engine for 97 and 98 galant.

In Europe the 2.0 and the 2.5 V6 is the most common engines for the Galant G8.

changing of engine is cool if u r ready to put up with the aftermaths. in my experience all engine changes have caused trouble in the future unless the compatible ones are deployed.
