transmission whine at 60MPH
 

I have a 2003 Galant that whines when you push on the gas pedal beginning at 60 MPH. The shop says that's normal for Mitsubishi engines....

Do I have to put up with the noise? (I can even hear it over the radio..)

That doesn't sound right at all. Only whine I got in my Galant is from my stereo but that is my fault since I have the power and RCA's running down the same side of the car.

Do you notice any power loss and this only happens after 60?

Thanks. I didn't think it was right, either. The dealer I bought it from put some pressure on the Mitsu guys and they ended up tearing apart the differential and replacing a bunch of bearings and stuff. (Under warranty, thank goodness.)

I can still hear the noise if I shut my windows, turn off the radio, and listen real closely....but that's ok!

I think they just didn't want to get stuck doing the warranty work.
