What is the "asc" button?

Car: '00 galant ES (bought it two days ago)

On the sunroof control panel there are 4 buttons: open, close, vent, "asc".
The first three are pretty straight forward, but what does the "asc" button do? It is not mentioned in the owner's manual. It glows red when I press it, but I don't see it doing anything at all.

Thanks for answering my question!

[:-]hmmm....asc is anti skid control, but it seats right next to sunroof option controls?? might be something else, but hey my outlander is equipped w/ asc too. (4wd)

wicked_outlander:

Thanks for your reply.
I searched on the web but still have no luck in finding what the "asc" button does. (The button has the letters "asc", and a half-shaded circle.) "asc" can stand for anti skid control, active skid control, active stability control, etc.. My gut-feeeling is, the button on my car represents neither. I don't think skid/stability control is an available option in '00 galants (or is it?), and my car is not a 4wd.

What a mystery!

RE: What is the "asc" button?

OKOK, I finally found out what is it!

My logic: If it's on a control panel with other sunroof-related buttons, then it must have something to do with the sunroof.

After after playing with it for a while, here is what I found:
If I leave the "asc" button as-is (unlighted), open the sunroof, and turn off the ignition, the sunroof would automatically close.
If I push the button in (lighted with a red glow), open the sunroof, and turn off the ignition, the sunroof would stay open.

So I guess the "asc" button stands for something like "automaticsunroof closure".
