The A pillar on my driver side is not connected properly to the body of hte car. There is a HUGE gap and the dealer tried to change it already. Apparently, the dealer said they cant do much to it becuase it is the same for ALL 08 Lancer GTS, and he said probably even the normal ones. What I want to know is if anyone else is having the same problem?

What Pillar? the Hinge that hold the door?

I know what you mean... Look under any door on the 2008Lancer?
there is also a little gap underneaththe panel where you put your stuff on the door andused your fingers. I said this because just to make you more comfortable it isacommon problem.


Don't worry about it. Probably the way your car was assembled. The mold don't actually have100%fit.
It is common. If you really don't like push it a little, there must be clip on it.

Or go to a professional body repair shop ask them to fix it for you some are nice to fix it for free or just ask advise. To a Dealer? Don't waste your time.

 

I just looked at my car's pillar (08 GTS, Sun & Sound w/ Navi) and the gap looks roughly the same as yours. Just cheap interior parts I guess It might be designed that way so it can come off properly when the airbag deploys.

 

I have the same gap too.. just 1/2 an inch.
If the car drives well and no problems don't worry about it.

Don't lose your strength on it and be happy withyour $18,000 car that is fully loaded compared to Honda and Nissan with lesser options which cost almost the same.

Remember 2008 Mazda 3 and 6 had multiple recalls this year compared to our 2008 Lancer which had only one for the past 8 months since it came out.

 

Even my GTS has that gap, i always wondered if it was an assembling error [&:],
