i bought a used Mitsubishi lancer car model 2004 and i found a hole at the top of the

i bought a used Mitsubishi lancer car model 2004 and i found a hole at the top of the coolant extension tank so i closed it with a adhesive , but after that i heard that this hole is used to bring out any extra coolant that might be in the tank.
So what might went wrong because i closed the hole as i have added extra coolant to the extension tank went i bought the car?
