Mitsubishi laner sportback-turbo problems!
 

I've got a mitsubishi lancer sportback on a 59 plate. The turbo has recently kept cutting out. A simple restart of the engine solves the problem but I have had confirmation from mitsubishi that it is a fault with the Turbo variable vain positioning sensor! Unfortunately this is £2500 worth of parts as it requires a new turbo and exhaust manifold!

Mitsubishi are willing to pay the first £1000 as a good will hesture as its only 3 months out of warranty!

My question is if anyone else has ever had a similar problem, and if so is there a cheaper alternative to getting it fixed?
