One catalytic converter?
just wondering if anyone knew if the second cat on the lancer really matters. will it make a huge difference on emissions testing or can i cut it back to one.

RE: One catalytic converter?
Yes it will make a huge difference and i dont think you will pass... there is still the slim possibility that you will though

RE: One catalytic converter?
the lancer has two cats?

RE: One catalytic converter?
i work for the largest catalyst manufacturing company in the world. alot of times there are multiple cats that contain different precious metals and base metals . these two cats work together , but have different chemical reactions. So one might not be good enough to pass.
I am so glad that we dont have emissions here. |
RE: One catalytic converter?
Two cats? That's news to me- I have only seen cat, resonator, and muffler except on true dual exhaust cars. Two O2 sensors for the OBD2 systems yes, but two cats?

RE: One catalytic converter?
mitsubishi certainly didnt install it for no reason.
people need to stop second guessing the engineers that spend years designing our modern injection/emission systems. you wont gain any power if you remove it, either. |
RE: One catalytic converter?
well im definitly not saying that they installed it for no good reason but if i put a new exhaust on the lancer do you think i would need to keep both?

RE: One catalytic converter?
i took off my 2nd cat.....it has more power...low end torque is down a little, but it sounds awesome
