Could be a ton of different things. Has gas mileage dropped? Have you cleaned the throttle body? When were the injectors last cleaned?

Seems the engine's running lean. Have you replaced the fuel filter?

lol you know your generic codes :D Hes right system is running lean,it can be numerous things. so I say check your basics vacuum, fuel pressure,etc...

you dont think it may be the air mass sensor

LOL! Yes I've had my share of codes to deal with. :) MAF would normally trigger a light on the dash. With the engine running, unplug the MAF and see if it runs better.

Also take a CLOSE look at all the temperature and pressure sensors on the engine to see if they are reading accurately. When the ignition is on, and the engine off, you can use a scanner to read the temperature and pressures to see if they meet what you expect. Obviously all temperature sensors should read near ambient and pressures near zero or atmospheric.

It can actually set a MIL-camrys :D
But I still think he should check his basics-Compression,Vacuum,Fuel,Ignition-Your idea is good though Personally I get our DSO out works so nicely
