Squealing noise

When I started my car today there was a really loud squeaking noise coming fromt he engine that I never heard before. It was wet out, and I probaly just figured that there was moisture on the power steering belt, but I'm not too sure. Do you guys think it's just the power steering or something else?

Check the belts for any cracks and glazing.

Ya I checked the belts...seemed to be no problem. I didn't have any problems before with it, and I haven't had any since. I just thought it was really random that it just made that noise like that.

Well if they look ok check the belt tension, they just probably need to be tighened a little bit like what beat said.

It just starting to break if you just started tohere the noise

Put onyour heater or ac while driving. You will hear a squealing sound once in a while especially when its wet. if so check bearing for the alternator it should be in front of the engine near the radiotor left side. facing the car.

But if you want change theSerpentine beltmake sure Your mechanic will NOTFORCE THE BELTONTHE PULLEY OR ELSE HE/SHE WILL break the Oil Seal orCrank Sealor other parts holding the Pulleys.

That will be another huge oil leak and big problem.
